Biometrics Appointment - Documenation Referral

Hi everyone,

I've applied for naturalisation last month and did my biometrics the other day, went to one of the core centres as I self-submitted all of my docs online. At the appointment itself, the UKVCAS bloke took my biometrics etc and then got a piece of paper called 'Annex 5 - Documentation Referral' from one of his trays on the desk, filled in my application details, service centre details, asked me two questions, wrote my answers down on the doc, dated it and got me to sign it. He then scanned it and submitted it to UKVI. The two questions were - do I have evidence of CSI (I'm an EU national) and whether I am happy with the qualifying period evidence I submitted. I was employed throughout my qualifying period so said CSI was not applicable, he put 'applicant has not had CSI'. Not bothered about this. The second question, he put 'applicant happy with qualifying period evidence'.

Has anybody else been asked this particular question at their appointment? I'm struggling to understand why this question is put to applicants or may be for whatever reason it was only put to me? UKVI tell us what evidence we have to submit for the qualifying period, whether it's your passport with entry stamps as is the case with non-EU nationals or employment letters/P60s if you're an EU national, we then submit what we're asked to submit and then we're asked if we're happy with what we've submitted. Not sure I can see any logic behind the question but maybe it's just me. What do others think? Would be grateful for your thoughts and feedback. Thanks.

You do realise that the ukvcas staff are not home office staff.

They are a third party agent, run by Sitel.

They are just doing their job really and you certainly aren't the only person who has been asked this.

Thank you for the feedback. Yes - I know the UKVCAS staff are are a third party doing their job for UKVI. So presumably both questions are something they're told to check with the applicant, the thing comes up on their screen based on the application submitted and they do what they're asked to do. My question is, what is the purpose of asking the applicant if he/she is happy with the evidence he/she submitted when the evidence in question is exactly what UKVI tell applicants to submit. You don't get asked if you're happy with the evidence of nationality or any other evidence submitted for any of the other requirements you have to meet as part of your application. Why ask if you're happy with your P60s or your employment letter submitted? Yes, I'm obviously happy - I've submitted it. Ok, they have confirmed I'm happy, but what purpose does it serve?
