Receiving Conviction after submitting naturalization application

Hello, my question is regarding my naturalization application which I submitted recently.

Prior to the application, a few weeks before I got stopped by police for driving under the influence. They did a breathalyser and then took me to the police station where they did a blood test. They released me after 2.5/3 hours of me being there and gave me a letter saying that I have been 'Released without charge at the time and need to be aware that full consideration will be given to all of the evidence relevant to the case.'

In the naturalisation application, they asked whether I have at any time been 'arrested or charged for which I am currently waiting on trial for.' I said no because at the time I wasn’t charged for anything and still am not. Now the court letter has come through with a notice for me to appear in court after I have submitted the application. I am unsure as to what to do. Should I inform Home office if I get points or a driving ban on my license?


I have no previous criminal convictions and am a good citizen who has made a mistake in this instance. I just don't want my passport application affected as I have delayed applying for a British passport for the last 8 years and now when I came around to finally doing it, I am on the verge of a conviction which I feel may delay my whole passport application.. So I am confused as to what I should do now.

The general suggestion from previous threads is that you are better off sharing this with HO. This will likely result in a refusal and HO will tell you when can you re-apply.

I am not sure if HO can see your summon on their record before making a decision and what happens if they find this out at a later stage. Deception almost always results in refusal.
