Post by Jamaica9 » Sun Aug 07, 2022 12:09 pm

Hi Guys,

I have reasonly became natralize I am still waiting on the council to send me the dates for the ceremony.

I got my indefinite leave to remain in my passport, I did not get the BRP Card, can you tell me if I have to send back my passport to the home office for it to be cancelled?

Your help would be appreciated.

You are only British once you attended the ceremony and received your certificate.
The email advising that your application was successful is for your information only.
Keep hold of your passport - you don't need to send it anywhere!
If you didn't have a BRP you can't return one (your ILR expires under the law once you become British-no specific action required).
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

No.

The requirement to return only applies to ILR BRP cards. You can't return something you do not have.

Do not send your Jamaican passport to the Home Office at this stage. It will need to be sent to the HMPO when you apply for your first British passport.
