Going on a holiday after applying for citizenship

Post by AkbarHaf » Mon May 01, 2023 7:26 am

Hi all
I applied for citizenship last month, I booked a flight ticket to travel abroad end of June.
What if I receive the approval while I am abroad?
Do I have to come back to the UK straight away?

Thanks

You are free to travel after submitting the application (and biometrics).
The approval email is just a notification - you are only British once attended the ceremony and received your certificate.
But you are required to book the ceremony within a short time frame after receiving email - your council could be in touch before UKVI.
In the meantime your current status remains as is.
