Citizenship via EU settles status - Absences

Post by southerndb » Sun Nov 19, 2023 4:34 pm

Hi,

My other half is looking to apply for citizenship, having been in the UK 5 years.

We understand that she needs to give evidence of when she was out for the country, however she didn't keep all of the emails for flights etc from 4 or 5 years ago.

Would approximate dates be enough?

It's going to be beneath the 450 day limit.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks in advance!

Try your best to recover all the dates or as many as you can. You can do a SAR to the Home Office, it may not be entirely accurate but you may retrieve some more details. See here https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... mmigration

If you are a British citizen and you are married, your spouse will only need to provide evidence for the last 3 years, so it may be easier to reconstruct the trips, but must have ILR. If you aren't married, they will need to wait 12 months from the grant of ILR.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.
