Postponing ceremony and council rescedule to last day of 90 days to attend ceremony

Post by Ozzy786786 » Wed Nov 29, 2023 9:05 pm

Hi,

Due to been out of country, I have to postpone my ceremony but council has give me new date on the last day of three month period during which I have to attend. Would this cause any issue? If for any reason, ceremony gets cancelled or postponed, will I be able to attend after three months have passed as this would be council cancelling the ceremony?

Regards

The council would return your certificate to the HO and you may need to submit a new application if you don't attend within the 3 months. So do everything you can to attend.

Thanks. What I wanted to ask was that council has asked me to attend on the last day of three month period which I am going to attend definitely but if council cancels or postpone ceremony due to some reason, would they send my certificate back to home office?

You have had three months to attend, it is up to you to attend on time. I would maybe try to tell the council that you are attending close to the deadline, and ask them what happens if the ceremony gets postponed, as they may be more lenient or strict. I had extenuating circumstances and the council offered me an earlier date for example, but in my case I had to attend as quickly rather than as late as possible.

That will be the result, just as Post office and BRP gets returned to origin/issuer/sender if owner does not pick up within agreed or certain times.
