MN1 Application referees issues

Post by Arkey2023 » Thu Feb 29, 2024 1:08 pm

Dear all,

Application: MN1 form
Child: 2 year old born in UK
One parent hold settlement

My Issue:

I did contact my two referees who said they will be able to sign the declaration before paying for the application. however one of them now said he think he is related to the child and obviously hesitating to sign.
so the application is paid however BRP is not yet done.

My options:
1. Should i pull out from this application and send a new one. will I get a full refund?

2. Should I find another referee who can sign the declaration and attach a cover letter explaining the situation and adding more details about the new referee.

3. Should I explain the referee that my kid is not related to you, since this referee is my uncle (my mothers brother) but he is not my child uncle! so how is he related to my child?

any advice on this would be much appreciated!?
Any other options that I didn't know please shoot them here.

By blood. He's a great uncle as far as I understand.
This referee will not do. Not sure which option you should take but find another referee.
Not a qualified immigration adviser. Use links and references given to gain confirmation and/or extra information.

You can find another referee and explain in the cover letter to please consider that person and not the original details supplied.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.

That's exactly what he said but if we look into the definition of relative under UK legislation I don't think he is related to my child.
