Invited to ceremony today, 1 month after submitting biometrics & evidence, no news from Home Office: a mistake, right?

Post by Salgsgiver » Sat Nov 23, 2024 10:38 am

Hi
I've submitted my online application early in October and did the biometrics with the new provider at the end of that month. EU applicant resident from before Brexit, I've had to apply asking for discretion due to days outside UK soil in the qualifying period (below 730 but above 450).

I've read that the council can invite you with an e-mail sent on Fridays or Saturdays (I got mine today, Saturday) and that the Home Office can confirm on the Monday just after. But after such a short time? It's got to be a mistake, right, the council just jumped the gun or something?

You received the invite from the council?
They can only invite you if they have received your naturalisation certificate (document confering citizenship).
The Home Office is often slower than the councils with their advisor email. There's not a fixed schedule for these activities.
You could contact the council and ask for clarification. Occasionally there are quite fast approvals, you could be the lucky one.
If it's all correct then congratulations!

Gosh, I was hoping for people here to deflate my expectations because, in the end, I won't know until I know from the Home Office. Thanks for your input, I'll still try to keep a level head until that e-mail comes.

Thanks!

You can double check with the council. The email from the HO sometimes doesn't arrive for a while though the approval is in fact confirmed. you can also try to email the HO directly.

The council has confirmed, it's not a mistake on their part, they have what they need from HO.

Still can't believe it and trying not to believe it.
