Citizenship

Post by Ammer1 » Thu Dec 19, 2024 2:09 pm

My wife came from Pakistan on spouse visa in October 2009 and got ilr a few years later. She did the life in the uk test and b1 test but we never applied for citizenship as we had a lot of issues with my son who was autistic and my wife was his carer. Her brp expired in 2022. We want to apply for her citizenship and was wondering if it is a straight forward application od not due to applying so late after ilr. Any help will be appreciated

It is a straightforward application!
There no issue of when you apply. It took me 30 years after permanent residence!
It’s a discretionary application, you could stay forever on ILR.

That's not an issue.
The BRP is just a document stating your wife has ILR.
Expiry of card doesn't mean ILR is expired. And by the way most BRPs will have expired by the end of this month anyway.
Just include a scan of the BRP as is.

Just to be clear, did your wife use the B1 Certificate for the ILR application? If not and test was taken over 2 years ago then she'll have to take it again.

Did she use it for the ILR application?
