my son born in South Africa can I get him British Passport

Post by AKB1973 » Mon Aug 08, 2011 2:16 am

hi
My son was born in 1996 in South Africa and has lived there all his life, I was born in Britain to British parents and have lived in UK all my life. My sons mother now wants to get him a British passport, does he have the right to one being the son of a British citizen who is British NOT by decent (I believe that is the term for someone born in the UK) any help would be appreciated
Thanks|[/quote]

If you are not married to your son's non-British mother, then he must apply for registration beforehand.

If she was British otherwise than by descent when he was born then her son is automatically British.
