British Citizenship for spouse

Post by barua » Tue Aug 09, 2011 7:29 pm

Friends,
I recently got my british citizenship(about a month ago).
My wife is still on Tier1 and will qualify for ILR in Oct 2012. And Oct 2013 for citizenship.
Since I am a citizen can she apply for citizenship now as my spouse? Is there a quicker way than Oct 2013(when she gets it on her own) please?
thanks and regards,
Barua

Well yes, and no!

No problem with what you say about the ILR, but as regards the Naturalisation, your wife is now married to a British Citizen .... you! Accordingly as soon as she gets the ILR she can apply for Naturalisation, as long as she was physically in the UK 3 years before UKBA will receive the Naturalisation application.
