Made redundant - do I need to let HO know?

I submitted my nationality application early June on the basis of spouse of BC + ILR, but was made redundant from my job last week. My company is being flexible about keeping me on the books for my 3-month notice period, but I only want to stay on if it's a necessity for my citizenship as if my notice is "paid out" in a lump sum, it's not subject to tax.

so, two questions:

1. Would I need to notify the Home Office of my change in employment circumstances?
2. Given my application was filed in early June, should I take advantage of the company's willingness to keep me on the books as a PAYE employee, and if so for how long? End of August? September?

There is no requirement to be employed when applying for naturalisation. If you provided your employment details in section 3 (good character), then they were true at the time of application so you are fine.

I would just take the money tax free.

Thanks Jambo. I was concerned about the "notify us if there is any change in your circumstances" catch-all that I seem to remember from the application. If you're saying that wouldn't apply in this case, that's very useful.

You can notify them about ending your employment. This doesn't mean you need to stay in that employment as employment has no affect on naturalisation.

If you do want to notify them (although not needed), do it by writing (contact centre would probably not even take your call).
