route to british passport after ILR

Hi,

It will be 1 year this november after I got my ILR. I, my wife, and my child would like to apply for British passport.

My wife came here in September 2008 and was with me since then. My child was born here in the UK last year (before I got my ILR).

While applying for naturalization (or is it British passport?) does my wife have to be here for 5 years? Can we apply at the same time together (i.e. me, my wife and my child).

If someone can give me simple pointers on route to British passport as well as time frames that would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply.

So,in a nutshell, I would need to get British Citizenship (and attend the ceremony), and after that only my wife can apply for BC. During the time I get, my child can also apply with me for BC.

Please let me know if this is not the case.

Your child can apply now (UK born child to a parent with ILR).

You are right about your wife. Either apply after you become BC. Or you both wait until you both qualify and apply together.
