I was in born Canada in 1959 to British Parents, I have lived in England since 1961, I have a British passport. Does that mean I am British? I need to know for sure because I want my children to be British

You are British but are classed as British by descent (born overseas to a British parent). This means your kids will not be British if they are born outside the UK. If they are born inside the UK they will be British. That is the only difference between your status and that of a British citizen who is other than by descent.
