making an enquiry for my brother's application.....
got into the uk as a working holiday maker in 2006 june, married in the uk in october 2007 and got a spouse visa in oct 2007 in liverpool, got ilr in july 2010 and applied for naturalisation in may 2012 through manchester NCS and all passport page photocopied.
he was sent a letter requesting original passport for proof of residency from may 2007 to may 2012 by ukba because he applied under 5 year lawful stay as he is seperated from his wife.
i am just wondering if the time spent on the working holiday will be counted as part of the 5 years and if he is eligible for naturalisation

Does he need to put in a covering letter explaining his visas from that date too?

Not necessary, but that would help as it would make things easier for the case worker. So yes include the covering letter. A short one.

@Iyewo, I have the same issue. My passport was requested 11 August stating that they want me to confirm my absence from May 2008 to May 2009. I sent my old passport that has all the stamps on 16 August so i am expecting to hear from them. They also stated on the letter that i should check for any error in my Names because the ones they have would be printed on my Citizenship Certificate.

Bcoz i got a letter from UKBA in August requesting my passport without any explanation.

I applied thru east ham NCS for naturalistion in Jan 2012.

Pls reply ASAP .

The letter only states that they need the passport for residency requirement between may 2007 and may 2012.

@Kasaman, Yes they request passports to apply the said discretion on absences from the UK during the residential qualifying period. Anyways i got back my passport today in my prepaid special delivery packet, dated 28 August and I was told that decision has been made. So hopefully i should get the Brown Envelope by Next week. Cheers

Passport posted last week Tuesday. Got it back yesterday with a letter saying application successful and will receive invitation letter soon.

I am still waiting as well. Did they tell you when they sent yours ? like mine was sent on the day my passport was sent back ( 28 August ). I guess royal mail second class is too Slow.. Hopefully we should receive it before the week runs out.. cheers
