I have applied on the 21/09/2012
Got a confirmation letter dated 27/09/2012

I want to call to get an update, I tried the number on the letter and it gave me 2 options:
1. Application submitted less than 6 months
2. Application submitted over 6 months

If I select 1 it says no update is available for application submitted less than 6 months ago and it hang up on me

Then just press option 2 , they will answer . The thing is getting anything out from your application depends on who picks the fone , someone tells you someone will refuse to even ask your ref , so its just a matter of luck .

It's less than a month since you applied so I would relax abit if I were you. Applications seems to be processing faster these days so all going well you should hear from them by mid next month or so.
