Hi
This is Umair, and need some information regarding the Passport requirement when applying for naturalisation. Applying for my wife using 5 years residence requirement and one year ILR. (5 years completed in Sep, while ILR is completed 1 year as well in MAY)
My wife passport is already expired in March, 2012 and I need to apply Naturalisation this month, would you recommed to apply on expired passport with ILD stamp on it.?
Another question: I have been granted the citizenship but still ceremony to go, should I wait until I get the certificate and then apply for my wife as dependent on British Citizen, or just apply now on her own as she completed 5 years plus 1 yr ILR.
Hope you would suggest for both questions.

1. No problem applying with an expired passport. Your wife would need to provide alternative evidence she has been in the country since her passport expired (see last page of application form for what type of evidence is acceptable).

2. If she meets both route requirements, there is no much difference between the two (with a slight advantage to spouse of BC). She should choose whatever suits her best.
