Hi All,

A few of my friends have provided software engineer referees in the past and their applications have been successful. Those engineers didn't have any professional qualification like CEng (Chartered Engineer). This makes me think that the list of referees provided by the home office is not exhaustive.

Please let me know what referees you had provided.

Yes I have seen that several times. My point is: this list isn't exhaustive. Does anyone agree?

I would agree that the HO is not checking references in all the applications so you might get away with it even if the references don't meet the creteria.

Ok, thanks. I don't really understand what "Engineers (with professional qualifications)" means and how HO translate foreign engineers and their degrees (e.g.: Bachelor of Engineering) into this term?

TBH, HO don't specify exactly what is required, same with accountants. I thnk its left at the discretion of the applicant and caseworker alike.

You have to pay attention to some categories that have clarifications specified in paranthesis. for eg. Civil servant (permanent), Valuers and auctioneers (fellow and associate members of the incorporated society) etc.

Going by the same principle, In case of Accountants & Engineers there is none/minimal. SO B.Eng / CCNA or an Accounting degree followed by working in the profession in a firm being over 25 years should be good enough even if the references are taken up. Caseworker notes say they will notbe automaticaly taken up as long as you satisfy the remaining criteria.
