Naturalisation, Limited Companies and NI

Hi, I'm new to this site and have a question that I hope somebody can help me with. I'm due to apply for my naturalization soon and have a question about the 'good character' provision.

I have been contracting through a limited company for the last 4 years and paying myself a salary below the NI and PAYE threshold, while taking out the rest in dividends. All perfectly legal. I submit a self assessment tax return each year

I've been going through the naturalization case notes and it would appear that the UKBA can/will do checks to ensure that your NI bill has been paid.

Would this be a problem bearing in mind that I have paid no NI for the last 4 years, albeit that it is above board?

Appreciate your help

Don't worry and submit your Last year tax return with your BC application. There is no requirement for BC to work. Everything will be fine. Good luck.

Thanks skymoon. Appreciate your response.

Can you please just clarify what you mean by"There is no requirement for BC to work"?

Do you mean that it doesn't matter that I have been paying myself below the threshold and hence no NI contributions and then taking out the rest in dividends?

thanks again for your help

HO want to check you have been paying some sort of tax, how much you pay is not there poblem. Just submit you last self assesment tax statement that should suffice.
