Hi,

I am holder of Indian Passport who has finished 6.5 years in the UK. I had done my ILR in Nov11. I am eligible for my citizenship and going to apply along with my son who was born June 2010 and had an indian passport initially with tier1 visa followed by ILR. My question is what are the professional referees for my son. My GP has refused to act as a referee. On the form it says 'One referee should be a professional who has engaged with the child in a professional
capacity, such as a teacher, health visitor, social worker or minister of religion.'.
My son does not go to school yet but has been going to a nursery for a month now. Can they act as referees?
Please can u suggest the list of people who can act as professional referees.
Thanks,
Ravi

Hi there,

I applied for MN1 last week, and the Nursery manager for my daughter signed as the professional referee.

I think that should be ok, good luck.

Its strange that the home office documents say that health visitor becasue the health visitors have refused to sign..I think nursery is the last option left.

I dont know why people get worried about the referees for MN1 applications, specially under section 1(3). Come on people do you really think UKBA will refuse your child's application on the basis of not providing a referee who is engaged with the child in professional capacity. 9 out of 10 times, health visitors, GP's and nurses will refuse to sign the form. Just go for any professional referee preferbaly a british citizen.

I did the same thing and my son's application was approved with in a month. Please no more questions on MN1 referees .................
