Lost ILR

Hi Guys,

I have couple of questions.

1. I sent my ILR approval letter to claim child benefits to prove that I am entitled to benefits and unfortunately it seems they have lost it. What can I do. I am eligible to apply for my naturalisation on 20th march, 2013 as I got my ILR exactly 1 year ago. Is it possible to get a copy of approval letter from HO?

2. I was on job till 15th Jan, 2013 and I was made redundant that day. what should I put in form AN (for naturalisation) question 3.2-3.5

where it asks for if I am employed, self employed, director, business partner. I am currently un-employed. I did not claim any benefit except child benefits so what should I show myself self-employed (by registering a company)? I have got my P45 form from my previous employer?

Please help.

Thank you.

you have lost the letter but i assume you must be having your BRP or ILR Stamp on the passport. i dont think letter is required anway as long as you have your BRP or ILR Stamp on your passport.
as for your second question , i guess you can just write unemployed.

Cheers

Thanks Drzeevoh.

I have biometric card. I have had the experience previously when applying for my wife's visa, I did not attach my HSMP approval letter and they refused my application even though a certified copy of my passport along with visa page was submitted. as I am unemployed right I do not want to take risks for my £850. But I think I have copy of the letter. Did anyone else have the experience submitting the application without letter of with the copy of the letter.

As for the 2nd option about employment, there is no option for unemployed :( where should I put it

My other half will be applying for BC in a couple of weeks time. He never received a letter saying his ILR had been approved (he applied at a PEO but was caught up in the biometric results saga last year so no decision could be made on the day. The letter he received subsequently just says "your recent application has been processed and you can now pick up your documents" - no mention of ILR being granted)

So we have no letter and will be applying with his passport and his BRP. Presumably this will be ok? The Home Office website still states you should provide your passport showing permission to remain in the UK indefinitely or the Home Office letter giving you permission to remain in the UK permanently. No mention of BRP :?

Has anyone applied for BC and just sent the BRP?

You don't need your approval letter for naturalisation if you have your BRP stating ILR.

You write 'unemployed' in on the form in the space provided in 3.1
