Hi,

I was on a student Visa from Sep 2010 to Jan 2012. I moved straight into Tier 2 Employer Sponsored visa in in 2012 and the Visa is valid till 2015 which is supposed to be extended beyond 2015. However, I will be marrying a British citizen in 2014. Now, after our marriage I intend to stay in my current immigration category...However, in 2015 since I will complete 3 years in UK and will be married to a British Citizen, can I directly apply for Citizenship ? or do I need to obtain ILR first and wait for an year ? if I need to go for ILR and not citizenship, then will I be eligible to apply for ILR at that time with my immigration status ?

No, to everything.

If you marry you can choose to switch to settlement partner but will have to wait five years in that category to get ILR. Or you can stay as T2 and get to ILR sooner. The moment you get ILR you can naturalise but you can't naturalise until you have ILR (one way or another).

Thanks for your reply...So, as soon as I get an ILR, I can naturalise and don't need to wait 12 months ?
