Individuals seeking British naturalisation or settlement will be required to hold English language qualifications as well as passing the Life in the UK test (LITUK), Immigration Minister Mark Harper announced today (8 April 2013).

From 28 October, applicants must prove they possess an appropriate level of conversational English (B1 intermediate) as well as passing the LITUK test in order to satisfy the Knowledge of Language and Life requirement.

Please let me know based on the above information, that my wife got her ILR in March 2013 and she will complete the 3 yr residence requirement next year feb 2014. Will she need to retake the life in UK test again and when she should sit for the B1 english exam.

thanks.

She will not need to retake the LIUK test. She shoud sit the exam when she is prepared, unless exempt or she has a degree taught in English.

Thanks for the reply.

My wife has a bachelors degree taught in English from a south Asian country. Will this degree qualify for exception of b1 exam.
