This seems to be a fairly common question.

Would the moderators be OK to add this to the list of FAQs, please?

The official procedure, as per the UKBA website, on what to do if there are errors in the naturalisation certificate is as follows:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/briti ... rtificate/
If there are errors on the certificate, please return the original certificate, evidence and covering letter to:

Nationality
Department 17

Hi,

Thanks for bringing up this subject. Have you had an issue with your naturalisation/registration certificate. If yes, it would be great if you can share what was your experience and how much time it took to resolve. Reason why I am asking is that my UK born child’s registration certificate which was approved under Sec 1(3) has incorrect information on place of birth. I have just received the certificate and I am very worried about how much time it will take for it to be corrected as I have plans to travel in the next 2 months. Delay in getting it corrected will delay the entire process of passport application etc. Any advise would be highly appreciated.

As I described here:

I sent back the naturalisation certificate the same day I received it, i.e. the day of the ceremony. Based on the few recent posts I have seen on the topic, people in similar situations had to wait approximately from 3 to 7 weeks to receive a certificate with the correct details.
