Hi All

I'm just completing my first british passport application and got stuck...
My mother's name is different in my indian passport than what i have gaven in my ILR application and what is in her indian passport.

Its very confusing for me which name should I use...

options

1. From my indian passport...which I am sending with Passport application.

Issue= But I have used different name in my ILR application?

2. Used same name as I used in ILR application.
Iussue- This name will not match with my indian passport?

3. Used her actual name from my mother's Indian passport and ignore my passport name.
issues- this will not match with my indian passport and my prevouse ILR application.

Can any one help and advise which one is logical and safe.

Do british passport have mother's and father's name on it.

***Please note= Only surname is creating this problems, first name and second name is same for all the documents.

thanks
mrite

I wonder how this could be.

I mean your mother has a name like everyone else, but on your passport you decide to use some other name for your mother?

Or is it just the difference of spelling or first name and surname in different order?

If so, you need to complete the passport form with the name that appears on your naturalisation certificate.

Just use the name that is given in your passport. It won't be a problem.

You mention about ILR, and then you say you are applying for British Passport. Have you naturalised as a British Citizen?

@Ayyubi72
Yes, I'm now naturalised as a British Citizen.
I thought so that used as my passport one... thanks for help..

@CR001

I am just clearify thing now to avoid any confusion, if I sponser my parent from india to UK in future.

Although parents details do not really matter if you are getting naturalised, or getting your British passport after naturalisation, but it is always good that if you know the correct details then use them.

If there is any question about parents DOB, then I would say give the correct ones after consulting your parents passports back in India. If you are not sure about the correct dates, then its better to just say "not known" or "can't recall" rather than giving wrong details.

Hi mrite123,

What did you finally do?

I have similar issue.

My passport has ABC for my parents names (both) and their passport has XYZ (both).

I have ILR and now need to apply for Neutralization. I don't know what names should i use.

Thanks
