Applied for the naturalisation yesterday morning at the local council's office.
Fingers crossed.

Thanks everyone for the guidance so far.

Next thing.
I was thinking about changing my name. I want my British passport to have a new name on it.

When is the best time to change the name? Shall I do it now or after the ceremony?

Cheers!

First go to the ceremony and get your naturalisation.

Then print a "deed poll" from the link at the end of this post. Sign and date this deed poll in front of a solicitor, who will certify your signatures. You will have to carry your id to show to solicitor.

Now when you apply for passport, send this deed poll with your passport application, and you will get your passport issued in new name.

You might need this deed poll to change you name in bank account, driving license and for other matters. So I would suggest that you print 4 copies of deed poll, and get them all certified at the same time.

The whole name change procedure should only cost about £ 20.

Cheers Ayyubi72.

Just a few question.
1. I guess there is no fast track service when applying for the first passport. Is there?

2. Will they ask me for bank statements, council tax bills in the old name when I will be applying for the new passport or can I use the bank statements issued in the old name?

3. Whats the quickest way to get the first passport, regardless of the cost?

Thank you.

No, there isn't a fast track service of any kind for first passport.

2. Will they ask me for bank statements, council tax bills in the old name when I will be applying for the new passport or can I use the bank statements issued in the old name?

None of these things are required for passport.

No quick way.

Thank you.
