hi all I wonder if some one can clarify this,.
1.statuatory residential requirement on ukba website says 450days max.

2.The guidance notes in Annex.B.4.1.1. it says, absences upto 480 days normally disregard.

so im confused as to which is right 450 or 480 days.

hi thanks for the link.

I read the link it says that absences above 450 days if you have been resident in uk for past 5 years.

Does this mean that if a person has been out of the uk for more than 450 days{max.480 days} in a five year period, does he still qualify for naturalisation on the bases of residency.

I assume the applicant is not married/civil partnered to a British Citizen. How many days in the last 5 years has the applicant been absent and how many days in the last 12 months?

I have been out of the country in past five years for a total of 434 days.

But i want to go to Pakistan for 45 days as of 1st july 2013.

That brings my total to 479 appx. I have been only 16 days out this year.so.

1.total no.days so far in last five years 434days.
2.16days this year.[out of 434days].

3.applying for natrulisation in Dec.2013.[that's when my five years complete counting from Dec.2008.

Its 450, but they don't care if it goes upto 480. So, if you have no more than 480 days absences, you will be fine. 480 will mean 480 not 481.

The day you leave UK and the day you come back are not counted as absences.

If you go on 1st and come back on 10th then you have only 8 days absence.

My mom died in December last year.I write this just incase you guys

wonder Why I didn't do it in2005.All I want to be sure that im safe if I am out of uk for 478 days in past five years and still have a chance at natrulisation.Thanks.
