Hello Members,

I have a quick question on section 9 of C2 passport application form which relates to Counter Signatory. I work for a private limited company as an Operations Analyst. My colleague who works in the same company, at the same position as me and knows me from the last 2 years. Can he sign the counter signatory part if application form.

It’s just I have seen a list of acceptable counter signatories on IPS website and this job title is not listed so thought I will post my question here to check if anyone has received their passport by getting it signed by someone whose job title is not listed in IPS acceptable list.

Please advise. Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Are you applying for a passport from overseas? C2 is the form to use for a passport applied abroad. For an application in the UK, get the application form from the Post Office.

It's not the title that matters for the countersignatory but his professional standing i.e. if he is a member of a professional organisation (Charted Engineer or accountant for example).

Thanks Jambo for your reply. I am applying for my son’s British passport. I have read on www.gov.uk website – that a C2 application form need to be filled in case of minor so that’s why I mentioned C2 application in my initial post. I will visit post office today and collect an application form from there.

In view of countersignatory professional standing – he works for Equifax (Credit Reference Agency) as Operations Analyst. Is this acceptable?

Thank you.

If he is a member of a professional organisation, then yes. His role title doesn't really matter.
