Hello,

I am an EEA national and I was wondering what is the amount of time I must have been resident in the UK, before I am eligible to apply for British naturalisation/citizenship. I was under the impression the prerequisite was 5 years, but under Section 2: Residence requirements, point 2.4, page 8 of the AN form, it states the following:

'If you are an EEA national or the family member of an EEA national, please complete the following section, showing on what basis you were in the United Kingdom for the last 6 years. This is so we can see whether you were exercising your Treaty Rights for a continuous period and have acquired permanent residence in the United Kingdom'.

So, could you please advise whether the residential qualifying period for EEA nationals is 5 or 6 years?

Thanking you in advance.
