Divorce after naturalisation

Dear members,

Please help me with my query.

I came to UK on a spouse visa four years ago (married for seven years in total) and now I am waiting for my GB passport to be delivered after one year of my ILR.

However our married life has taken a worse possible turn and things are not going well. We might end up having a divorce (though I am still doing my best to resolve the differences).

My question is will that affect my immigration status ? I have read on Internet that the ILR/nationality cannot be revoked unless false information was provided to gain it. Is this rule that simple or are there any ifs and buts involved ?

Please guide.

Thanks.

Modest,

Once you are free of immigration restrictions marriage breakdown and divorce will not affect your immigration status unless the whole thing could be proved to be a sham from the beginning or it is a case of deliberate attempt to commit an immigration crime (arranging fictitious marriages etc).

Relax.
