Naturalisation Certificate with error / misspelling

Hi! Folks
A friend of mine has got their naturalisation certificate with a spelling mistake and I should get mine next week (hopefully without mistakes, but you never know); so what do they have to send back to the HO to get it corrected?:
- The original Certificate
- Cover letter explaining the mistake and what the right information is
- Evidence
This is what UKBA says, but by evidence do they mean a photocopy of the passport or the original document?
Has anyone had this problem? if so, did they send the original passport or a photocopy?
Regards
D

Derivaz,
First ask them to contact 0845 010 5200 and let them know the certificate came with wrong details and they have to travel urgently.
This is a bugger that can result in inordinate delays. In the past people have had to seek the help of their local MP's to sort the mess.
There have been cases where they take back the Certificate and sit on it.
Then the gov website gives wrong info and mentions that fees has to be paid. I wonder why should the op pay for fees if its not his fault.
Evidence the jobsworths already have and basically you will need to send a copy of the passport highlighted with the details which they have typed in wrong.
cheers

Ah ok, so a photocopy of the passport, not the original passport?
He's rung that number, but it's impossible to get through, he just gets the answer machine, so he's going to send the certificate, the photocopy of the passport (with the error highlighted) and a cover letter explaining it; hopefully, that will be enough.

Dear Derivaz,
Whilst its nice to note that your approval letter contains the correct info, nothing is guarantee until you see the Certificate. Fingers crossed it should go off without a hitch.
For your friend:
Regarding documents they already have everything, so photocopies and not originals. You do not want to send your originals and they are lost or misplaced or delayed.
cheers

Yeah, it also says "these are the details that will show on your certificate", but eventhough; it won't be for sure, until I have it in my hands and see it..
OK, I'll tell my friends to show a photocopy then, cheers

By the way, I take it that we don't have to pay to get the certificate corrected if it has an error, right?
