If you need the passport use NCS to apply. You can travel while waiting for decision, just don't forget to come back for the ceremony.

Thanks Jambo as always you reply with good info

What is the difference to apply through NCS? Does that mean I don't have to send my passport at all and they will send the copy or I still have to send the passport?
You didn't mention how long I can stay away(abroad) of course I will come back once I hear the news for the ceremony.
Many thanks.

NCS will copy all your documents during the appointment and give them back to you. They send the copies directly to the HO. There is a fee for the service.
I didn't mention how long you can stay abroad because there is no restriction (strictly speaking you are expected to intend to live in the UK after applying but in practice it's impossible to enforce and I suspect there are many applicants who just sit on the suitcases waiting for the day they are eligible to apply for the red passport before going back to their home country).

Thanks Jambo,
Just to clear that I'm well understood, NCS will only send the copy even of passport?

Correct.
I guess you wish you had that option for EEA applications as well

Hello There,
Here, I Read the question of member and also answer given by respected Moderator 'Guru'
Now, before I ask my question, here I give you my detail
I have an ILR (Thanks to help of this very informative Board, who help me lot that time) and currently I just applied for British Citizenship on 27th November by using Leicester NCS and get the acknowledgement and receipt of payment from Home Office on dated 09/12/2014 on 16/12/2014.
Now my question is that I get two week Holiday off from my Job and so that reason I plan to go to India, but my main concern is,
"Should I have to inform (by writing or calling) them (Home Office) that I am going for holiday or it's not necessary ?"
I am very grateful to find answer from you friends, as I bit worried as over two months time already passed and nothing heard from their side.
Thanks to reading my post and hope I get prompt response from your side,

No you dont need to inform them, however, you might want to make arrangements so that if approval letter comes to your house someone is able to tell you that.
