British Citizenship Refugee Only

Post by doodoo2012 » Fri Nov 22, 2013 11:33 am

Hi guys,

Could we please start sharing experience / info / timeline re naturalization for refugees.

Do we need to do the life test/language test? or are we exempt?

Please don't hijack with something else.

Regards,

Doodoo

Refugees are not exempt from any standard requirements, including LiuK or B1 english.

thank you for your reply. But what does this mean in the new pdf document about naturalization/koll? Please

"Refugees and those with humanitarian protection will continue to be exempt from the requirement in recognition of their continued need for protection. For the present we will continue to exempt those granted discretionary leave (DL), although we will consider this further and keep this position under review."

it is in the exemption part.

It's got nothing to do with BC, so you're not exempt from any standard requirements. You must have Liuk and Language Test.

The text you quoted is under the heading "Additional exemption routes for settlement purposes". You are exempt for ILR, not naturalisation.

As Ayyubi72 said, there is a thread on naturalisation timelines. An application by someone who has/had refugee status is treated the same way as other applications. You'll see that when you review the thread as people provide the basis on which they're eligible to apply.
