Hi,

My Family and i were granted our ILR on the 25th of February 2013. We are applying for Naturalization/Citizenship on February 2014, but i have a few questions i'd very much like your help with please.

1) My 6yr old Son who was born in India, his passport expires on the 25th of November 2013, does he need a valid passport to make an application or can i still use his expired passport as a proof of identity? From the UKBA website i understood, his would use the MN1 form, please correct me if I'm wrong.

2) My 2yr old Daughter who was born in the UK in 2011 does not hold a citizenship/passport of any country at the moment, would her application go together in the same form as my son's or is her's going to be a different process all together? If, a different process please could you explain including the form i would need for the application?

My wife and I still have to clear the English test (ESOL), but i would very highly appreciate if i could get a list of documents required for our application.

Expired passport is fine. MN1 is the form to use.

Same type of form (MN1) but on a separate one. each applicant needs to complete a form.

Hi,

I would highly appreciate your time regarding my daughters Application for Naturalization. I forgot to mention in my previous post that She was born (in the UK) before my Wife and I were granted ILR. She does not hold a Passport/Nationality of any country. Should I still use the MN1 form as you stated before? Or considering she is stateless, should i use form S2?

I need help regarding a few questions in the form:

In Form MN1, section 1.1: "Please indicate the section of the British Nationality Act 1981 under which you would like the application considered". Is it: Section 1(3)

Section 1.2: "Immigration and Nationality Directorate or Border and Immigration Agency or UK Border Agency reference number" She does not have a reference number or a date when she was granted ILR. Her only official document is her Birth Certificate and a NHS card.

I highly appreciate your help in the past and look forward to your advise regarding my current queries.

Form MN1 is the one to use. She is not stateless. She is Indian even though she doesn't hold an Indian passport.

1.2 - leave blank.

I have a few last minute queries before i make my application on Thursday the 13th March 2014.

Form AN (My application form)

1) This line in the guide for applicants applying on the basis of residence - "Letters from employers, educational establishments or other Government Departments indicating the applicant’s presence in the United Kingdom during the relevant period" - Should i submit a proof of employment Letter or would my council tax or pay slips or Tax return certificates be accepted, or are any of these not required at all?

If i need a proof of employment letter, kindly mention the points that should be covered in the letter. (I have been employed by this company for a year now).
If i need to submit pay slips or Tax return certificates or council tax receipts, should they be for the last 5 years?

2) A Referee holding a position in the professional body: I have request my pharmacist to sign as the referee (Professional body), would that be accepted or do i need my company Director (of a Limited company) to sign it?

From MN1 (For my children)

1) "One referee should be a professional who has engaged with the child in a professional capacity,such as a teacher,health visitor, social worker or minister of religion" - I asked my doctor today if she could sign the forms, but she hinted that it would be a better idea to get it done else where, and my son's (6 years old) class teacher hasn't yet got back to me, would it be accepted to have the pharmacist sign the children's form too?

My wife would not be eligible to apply for Naturalization as she has not yet completed 5 years in the country - as i was told by the Call handler from the NCS. My wife entered the UK in the September of 2009.

1) Do i still need to include the my marriage certificate along with the MN1 forms for my children.

1) have you read theline in the form just above your quote? It says "Your passports OR". So if you provide passports to cover the 5 years, additional evidence is not required.

2) Pharmacists is fine.

1) if teacher is not signing, pharmacist is fine.

1) marriage certificate is not required for children born after 2006.

Thank you so much for all your good advice. We successfully got our applications processed and were granted citizenship on the 10th of June 2014. My wife had not yet completed 5 years in the UK and could not apply along with myself and the kids. She would be eligible in September this year.
