Hi

I just wanted to ask if my wife is eligible for citizenship or not.

She came to live in UK on 02 March 2011 while I was over three years into my WP and we both got our ILR in Jan 2013. So I will be eligible for naturalisation/citizenship in Jan 2014 having completed 1 year after ILR + 5 years on WP, will she be eligible too? Or does she have to wait until 02 March 2016 when she completes 5 years in the country?

Thanks & regards

If you applied together in March 2014 that may be successful otherwise she may apply immediately after you are naturalised as British subject to meeting the other requirements.

Have you read the FAQ before posting?

Many thanks both, really helpful.

I think i prefer the first approach Amber to save some money by applying together in March 2014 but im not sure if it will work because I will not be a BC and she would have been here for 3 years not 5, they could refuse.

Do you know where I can get an answer to this or anyone who has had a similar experience can help?

Regards

You would be relying on the discretion of the caseworkers. People have done it successfully in the past.

I personally would not recommend it. This is a discretion outside the rules so it is impossible to estimate your chances. Are you willing to risk £600 (refusal) to save £200?

Check the last page of the application form. Not many documents are required for naturalisation.
