In October 2013 form "Knowledge of Language" is introduced as another eligibility criteria.

I checked the booklet, and the test I took in 2006, IELTS, is already included there.

I wonder if this certificate still satisfy this criteria. On the test report, it says that it is "recommended" to be re-assessed after two years, but in the booklet there are no indications of such a requirement.

My overall result was a Band 7, Good User. Not something like a B1?

Yes you can reuse your IELTS and show HO that you got the skills to be naturalised as BC.

Good luck

Hi,

I was wondering about that too. I passed my IELTS with overall score of 6.5 in 2003 and this is the only document I could find so far. Even though the 'Booklet' itself doesn't mention anything about the expiry date, there is another downloadable document online 'New Approved English Tests':
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... -tests.pdf
which states '2years' in the column for test validity. I think HO should clarify this once and for all but above all they should also accept that the 2 year validity date on IELTS is only advisory anyway.

Has anyone got any experience trying to use their 'expired' IELTS? I would rather use my FCE or CAE which both have no expiry date to them but unfortunately I am having troubles locating them and I don't think I have ever kept or even received ID number or security number which HO also asks for anyway. I passed my FCE and CAE in early nineties and the only things I kept were the certificates (so I thought at least until now).

The cheapest option of getting a certificate on a B1 level or above I have found so far is a £70 PET but I would like to avoid parting with this sort of money if possible. I might give HO a call later but from my experience they are usually not the best people to ask for any advice :)
