How to calculate the 1 Year

To apply for the citizenship, we have to be resident in UK without any immigration controls for the last 1 year.

Does anybody know for sure how this 1 year counts.

If I applied for the ILR on 09/12/2012 and my Residence Permit Card (ILR) is issued on 10/12/2012 for instance, could I apply for the citizenship on 09/12/2013 or 10/12/2013?

Is this really a question about one day or am I missing something really significant here? Generally, the day on which you apply for ILR is meaningless; the day on which you are granted is the date you should use. People who apply by post can wait up to six months so the application date has no relevance.

It really is a day only.
This was obviously not an application by post and the letter they gave me during the application already indicates that application has been approved. But the card states the next day as issue date.
The problem is I have already booked my appointment and I do not want to postpone it if I do not need to do so.

So if you were granted on the day and have a letter to that effect there is no problem. They can't make ID cards on the same day as the grant of ILR, and they can't backdate the start date on the cards to match the date of the grant; cards are always dated on the day they are made or emitted. Simple as that.

1 year (12 months)

Example: 02 Jan 2012 - 01 Jan 2013 equal 1 year or 12 months

Do they mention anywhere that they mean an year according to Gregorian Calendar?

They may well mean a lunar islamic calendar, chinese calendar or even ancient mayan calendar.
