Income - NI, PAYE, Council Tax for Good Character

Hi,

Looking to apply for citizenship in a couple years (applying for ILR now). Regarding the Good Character section, I have a few questions. I've read Chapter 18, Annex D on the requirement (9 Dec 2013 edition).

1. Council Tax: What evidence do I need to show to prove it's paid? My partner pays it, not me, though both our names are listed on the yearly invoice.
2. Council Tax: The invoice the borough sends me uses a short version of my first name rather than long form (e.g. Matt instead of Matthew). Will this be a problem?

3. NI/PAYE: I'm a PAYE employee of my own company. Except for my first year, PAYE/NI was nil. I've recently started paying some NI/PAYE again. By the time it comes to apply for citizenship, I would have 2 maybe 3 years of PAYE/NI. Will it be a problem that some years I paid no NI/PAYE?

4. Finally, does being a PAYE employee of my own company make me self-employed? From an accounting perspective I'm working for a Ltd, but don't know how UKBA treats it?

If it matters, I entered originally on a UK Ancestry visa.

Thanks!

1. Only documentation as mention on pages 17 and 18 of Form AN need to be enclosed in support. Dont go looking for stuff not asked for.
2.Not an issue. In my case the name is always a mess. First name in some banks, surname in some others, short initials are used by the council, HMRC have used their own naming convention.
3.No. Once you give your tax reference they will make their checks. You cannot pay NI or tax in years you do not work or if you are in a loss.
4.Yes. Independant professional.
cheers
