Hi,

went through the FAQ but it inst clear if a child can apply at the same time as parents.

my eligibility : 1.5 yrs WorkPermit + 3.5 yrs Tier1 + 1.2 yrs ILR.
wife came as dependent and has ILR since 1.2 yrs.
Our son was born in India and 3.5 yrs old.

my question is about when can we apply for my son.

(1) along with our applications OR
(2) wait until our application is submitted and application is in progress OR
(3) apply for son after our citizen is granted.

I did read that in certain situations its the discretion of the HomeOffice ..does (1) and (2) fall under this category.

Reading from the FAQ it seems (2) or (3) should be the case, but wanted to know if we can apply together.

snippet from FAQ about the application for child born abroad.

Code: Select all

"born abroad
If the child was born outside the UK, then once one parent applies for naturalisation, the child can apply for Registration under section 3(1). "
thanks for the guidance as always.

All options are possible. Obviously (1) is the earliest one. (3) is less risky as you remove the risk of refusal because of the parent application getting refused (as the child application depends on the outcome of the parent). Most people just apply together (if eligible).
