Do I need to be in employment to get british Citizenship?

Hi,

I have a question about naturalisaton application.

I got ILR in Nov 2013 (T1 General route) and planning to apply for naturalisaton in Nov 2014.

At the moment I am employed and but current full time employment finishes in June 2014.

If I remain unemployed from June 2014 to Nov 2014, would that be a problem while making citizenship appliction?

Is there a criteria that the person applying for naturalisaton MUST have a job?

Please suggest!

Thanks.

Nope you don't. But you do need to have the BRP, which you do need to be employed for. Obviously not if you are a dependant etc.

You don't need a BRP. This is a relatively recent requirement for visa holders coming into the UK in the last few years (2009?). I will be applying for Citizenship in a few days without one, and you can apply for Citizenship without one as well.
