When to apply for BC?

Hi All,

I am reading the AN booklet which says following.

"1. You must have been physically present in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands on the day 5 years before the application is received by the Home Office. For example if your application is received on 20/1/2010 you should have been physically present in the United Kingdom on 21/1/2005."

(I am not married to British Citizen, I was on Tier 1 general for last 5 years)
I have received my ILR on 10- OCT-2013 so anytime after that date I am free to apply for BC.

But I was on holiday (out of UK) from 17-OCT- 2009 to 01-NOV-2009, which means I wasnt physically present during that period in UK.

a) Would it be Okay to time my BC application any day between 11-OCT-2014 and 16-OCT-2014?

b) If I am going to use NCS, do I need to ensure my application reaches NCS during that period ?

c) What would be considered as date of application? would home office consider the date when the NCS receives my application or the date they forward my application to UKBA or the date UKBA receives it from NCS?

d) Should I just wait untill 01-NOV-2014 and then apply, rather than getting caught in the trap (while trying to speed up the process just by few weeks?)

Please let me know, thanks.

The application date is the day+1 that the UKBA receives the application, not the date you applied at NCS.

If you were not present 5 years before to the day that UKBA receives your application, it will be refused.

I would suggest, to be on the safe side, you wait till 1/2 November to submit your application as it really is only a matter of a couple of weeks to risk losing your application fee.

There is quite a short windowperiod between 11th and 16th October due to a weekend in this period. Also, you never know if there will be problems with the postal system, weather etc.

Ha ha, yes, I understand the above , please try not to scare me :-)

Thanks for your suggestion, Yes I think so its best to wait few days rather than risking things!

Appreciated.

Hi all,
I think I am elligible to apply for the British citizenship now, but not too sure abt it...

I arrived in the UK in jul, 2010: got ILR Settlement Visa under Spouse relationship in Jan, 2013. My spouse got the natuaralised BC-ship in Jan, 2011. This proves that I've been being an spouse of a british citizen for clearly 3 yrs till date.

1.Could anybody assure me abt this, pls?

2.And, regarding the proof of the English Language knowledge and skill, will the NARIC's "Statement of Comparability" be adequate or should I also get the "English Language Assessment"?
I am in gr8 confusion which one to apply for.

Thanking You.

Thanks a lot, nemo999 and CR001.
much appreciated!!
Furthermore, do you guys have any idea about the validity of NARIC's "Statement of comparability" as the evidence to my English knowledge/skills?
Well, I know that the UKBA asks for the NARIC's "English language assessment" certificate to prove my knowledge in english. I am wondering if I could do only the first one if that is acceptable for the BC application. And, so that I could carry on applying for my masters degree with the "statement of comparability" as well.
I guess nemo999 must have done one of these. Can you help me abt it, pls?

thank you..
