Confused about countersignature

Post by mrgsingh » Tue Mar 18, 2014 11:47 am

Hi

I've just received certificate for naturalization for my son & daughter so I'm going to apply for their British Passport. I understand that the form has to be countersigned by a person who is able to confirm the identity the person applying e.g friend, neighbour or colleague (not just known by professionally) however other guidance says that the person has to be professional.

https://www.gov.uk/countersigning-passport-applications

Can you please advise me if it has to be professional as well as friend, neighbour or colleague?

Your help is very much appreciated.

Thanks

Gurvinder
