Qualifying period query - please help

Hi,

I have some confusion regarding my qualifying period as the home office granted ILR before the end of 5 yrs under T1 (general)

Date of first T1(G) - 17th Oct 2008
Date of issuing ILR - 21 Sept 2013

Before T1 (G), I was on student visa.

My question is when is the earliest I can apply for BC as the five year period under T1(G) would have finished on 17th Oct 2013 but I was granted ILR before that.. which means I was on T1(G) for 4 years and 11 months (roughly) when ILR was granted.

I searched through the forums but couldn't find a similar question. If anyone can help, I will be most grateful :) If you can give me the date when I can apply, that would be awesome!

Thank you in advance!

You might want to double check with senior members but I believe you can apply for naturalization on 22.09.2014.

You have to hold ILR for exactly 1 year, so 21/9/2014 provided you were physically present in the UK exactly 5 years before.

Residency for naturalisation is 5 years made up of 4 years + 1 year ILR - unless you are married to a British Citizen.

Thank you Milan69 and CROO1

Thanks for clarifying that the 5 yr period includes the 1yr under ILR.

So in essence it is 4yrs under T1 General and 1 yr under ILR that will count towards the 5 yr period.

Thanks
