Hi All,

I am going to apply for British Citizenship after holding Permanent Residence for over 12 months. I applied for PR as a family member of EEA national but now we are divorced. My question is....

1. Will my permanent residency still be counted as evidence of settlement?
2. Is the divorce going to have any impact on the application process i.e. sending any other documents along with normal required documents?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Nabeel.

If you are not applying as a spouse of BC I believe your marital status is not relevant.

Does it mean that I am not entitled for BC?
can't i just select divorced in the marital status on the form AN?

What I understand from the UKBA website is that since i have the permanent residence, it means that i have exercised treaty right for five years.

Please reply.

I mean that whether you are divorced or not is irrelevant as you are not applying on basis of being a spouse of BC.

do you have a PR sticker on your passport? if so you can apply for BC 1 year after the issue date without having to prove 5 year treaty rights. Regardless whether your married to a BC or not.
