Hi all,

I can't understand why I been refused for British passport.
Some facts...
  • I was born in the UK, currently have French passport.
My mother is full French, born in France.
My late father had British passport, born and naturalised in the UK.
    Parents weren't married
I lived out the UK all my life except for 7 months in France.
I know I can apply for British by paying naturalisation, but why should I pay for this? :?
I can't remember the reason why I can't apply back in the years just want to know before I attempt to re-apply.

Thanks in advance

I'm guessing it's because none of your parents were British at the time of your birth? So you can't be British by descent. If that's the case then you will need to naturalise.

Perhaps registration would be more suitable, it's because your parents were not married. I assume you spent your first 10 years in the UK and you were born after 1983.

I'm afraid so.

Confirm year of Birth and what your Mother was doing in the UK, working?
