Sending off for my wife ILR this month, when she gets this back how long does she have to wait until she can apply for citizenship. She has been in the UK since October 2011 and we married in jan 2012. Her resident visa expires this month.

Also what is the cost of becoming a British Citizen and i take it she has to be a British citizen if she wants a UK passport.

Assuming you are a British Citizen she can apply for BC in November this year, as long as ILR has been granted.
The application fee is currently £906. You're correct that your wife must have been granted Citizenship before she can apply for a British passort.

We are doing ILR now so that should be back within 6 months i hope.

Does my wife have to be a citizen or not, or will her panamain passport and ILR be ok.

What are the advantages of becoming a citizen than not

and yes i am a UK citizen from birth
