Hi all,

I have got my ilr last month on 2 years- spouse settlement visa. When can I apply for citizenship?

1. I came in uk in May 2012. Got ILR in June 2014.

But catch Is this, my wife is also holding an ILR as well, as she is from Singapore.she can't have dual nationalities.

So my question is that, when can I apply for naturalisation. 12months after ILR, by then I will be in Uk for 3 years, but my spouse is not british citizen.

Or I have to wait until i am resident in uk for 5 years, which means 2 years on spouse visa and 3 years on ILR before I would be eligible for naturalisation.

Bundles of thanks in anticipation for all replies.

Regards
Zyab

You will have to wait until you meet the 5 year residence requirement to apply for citizenship. You can only apply sooner if your wife is British.
