When to approach NCS? Before or After 1 yr of ILR

Hi,

I am aware that I need to wait for 1 yr after ILR , in order to apply for British citizenship.

I am planning to use Nationality Checking Services offered by various councils, however I am not sure if I can approach them before completing 1 yr (say 3 weeks beforehand) or I need to let 365 days finish and then approach them for appointment?

Do I need to take NCS appointment before 365 days or the NCS appointment also needs to be after 365 days?

I am bit concerned about Saturday slots may fill up quickly (if they have any) , so thinking of being proactive in terms of booking the NCS.

Anyone with previous experience, please suggest. Thanks!! :D

Probably better to wait 1 year after ILR, if you don't qualify before then.

You can contact NCS a few weeks before to book the appointment. Just make sure the appointment itself is after the 1 year.

I agree with Jambo, I made my own appointment two days ago. I become eligible on 09/08/2014, so I made my appointment for 11/08/2014; the (very friendly) lady I spoke to asked whether I've had ILR for 12 months and she was happy that it would have been 12 months by the time of the appointment.

Thanks All,

I will complete 1 year (after ILR) on 11th Oct 2014.

I have managed to get appointment with a local council in London on the same day. i.e. 11 Oct 2014 (Saturday)

Logically thinking, I will complete 1 year on 10th Oct 2014 and I am free to apply on 11th Oct.

Anyway, the council will send my application to UKBA in 1-2 days, which would be 13th or 14th Oct (which is well after the 1 year waiting period)

Would that be ok? Please suggest.
