Passport application - Can I send expired passport

Question for applying for a passport after naturalisation. Gov.UK says that required documents are:
  • your naturalisation or registration certificate
  • the passport you used to come into the UK or foreign passport you’re included on

I've had 3 Canadian passports since moving to the UK to settle (Ancestry Visa) in 2008. When they say passport I used to come into the UK, do they mean the Canadian passport I first entered the UK on in 2008 (which is now expired), or my current Canadian passport (issued in February 2014)? Or do they want all of them?

It would be great to keep my current passport, as I might need to travel for work during the application time (though if that isn't possible, I will figure out a way to swing it with work).

Thanks.
Greg

You need to submit naturalisation certificate and all current passports. Expired passports are not required.
Also for British citizens through naturalisation route, the passport used during first entry is not required.

Thanks for clarifying.

I have been looking around, and it appears that it is still permissible to travel on the ILR biometric card after the naturalisation application has been accepted and citizenship ceremony completed. So if need be, I can travel with my Canadian passport and ILR and do the application for the UK passport on my return. Anyone have any experience of this and can confirm?
