Could someone help me please to understand what relative means when applying for BC?

Could I possibly choose a referee who is a British citizen and my wife's cousin's husband?
He is not blood related either to me nor to my wife.He is the husband of my wife's cousin.

If yes,can I choose the same person for my child's BC registration as well?Can one person be the referee for both of us as we are sending the form together?

Could I also choose the same person for the passport countersignatory afterwards?

you can use same referree for both of you, for both naturalisation and passport applications but should not choose someone related to you - either blood relation or though marriage.

So, my wife's cousin's husband cannot be as it is considered as ,,marriage" relation?

Just I am wondering if my first referee the professional one is good one?
It is a priest who lives outside the UK.
In the BC guide says that the professional referee can be of any nationality so I have chosen my well-known priest.He signed already.

My worry is now if he needs to live in the UK or not?He lives outside the UK.Does he need to be a resident in the UK?

If it's a priest, as long as they are licensed with the government of their residence as such, this will be recognized by the UK.

Is that true that British citizenship will be refused if someone claims benefits?I read in the Home Office guidance that claiming benefits should not be a reason for refusal.
I also read one comment of a lady who was refused BC because she claimed benefits.Home Office stated that she has ,,demanding attitude" and refused her BC.Can this be true in practice?

In my situation I had to claim all benefits and carerer's allowance because my wife became mentally ill just 2 weeks after delivery of our son.She is on strong medication and sleeps all the time.She is not able to look after herself not to mention of our son.Just in this year she was sectioned under mental health act 5 times!Her diagnosis is for life.The psychiatrists said it is the most severe case.I am her carer now for the last 4 years.Before we worked full-time.

I would feel horrible injustice to get refusal of BC because of claiming benefits.These were unfortunate life circumstances.Nobody can predict what can happen in their life.It is not my wife's blame to become ill and I did not have a choice but to quit my job to support her and a child.

Is the UK an example of great compassionate country for refuges and people with disability?

Please advise me on that as I am really worried.

You won't get refused because you claimed benefits.
